Wow, a new month has begun and tonight a new moon. With 152 days left in this year, I still have much work to do to achieve my Summer goals. Each season, I create a list of things I look forward to enjoying that's either season or business related. As I was happily preparing myself for festivities, I faced a challenge that would re-direct my plans.
3 weeks before my birthday, I injured my ankle. I wasn't walking while texting or not paying attention to my surroundings. I was simply walking. After my ER visit with x-rays and various scans, the Doctor informed me how severe the situation was. I was sent home with crutches, a work note, and instructions to stay off of it until my follow up. On crutches, I left wondering how was I going to get through the rest of Summer.
During the drive home, many thoughts raced through my mind. I had events scheduled to showcase my products. I was half way through the preparations to launch my campaign. My birthday plans and summer activities all seemed bleak.
Here are the 3 lessons I learned.
Take time to rest
From volunteering to helping family, I could be found driving around the city or working in the studio. Managing time to nurture my mind and spirit is a daily priority. Normally, I would listen to books and podcasts while en route or during my workout. No matter how hectic the day, I took time to meditate. Now, I had time to rest (lots of sleep) and really benefit from daily devotionals, prayer and meditation.
Let it go. Help is on the way.
I know, when I hear the phrase I think of Elsa from the Frozen movie. I wanted a shortcut so I could miraculously achieve goals. I was apprehensive about the next six weeks since I still handled business operations solo. I couldn't make soap and I had to accept it. I realized my customers, family and friends understood. I didn't have to apologize or explain. You can't control how hardships occur but you can control how you respond. When I began to let it go, I experienced a refreshing wave of inspiration and ideas.
For 14 days I committed to bed rest. I revisited my Summer goal list and changed my focus. I shifted my mindset from the frustration and challenged myself to see what could be done (from my bed). During this time, I was able to network and learn new things to improve my marketing. Before my birthday arrived, I had updated the blog, campaigns and even released new product labels. My Aunt volunteered in the studio to fill orders and helped me create a program for Brand Ambassadors.
I didn't stop there, to help make bath soaks more relaxing and therapeutic, I will be launching my new herbal bath soaks featuring fresh organic botanicals, salts, oats and coconut milk.
Shakespeare said that tragedy is a comedy misunderstood. I certainly have seen the lessons and blessings. Usually in July I have a special event to celebrate my birthday. I didn't forget my awesome fans and customers! During the month of August, I will be having a sale on all current merchandise. At first it was going to be a flash sale on Instagram, (if you're not following me there I'm @millimiracleorganics). The website received 2,000+ visits with fans and customers stocking up on their faves like the Coco + Poppy. There are a few body butters left to check out. Everything MUST GO.
If you haven't stopped to shop, do it now while current stock is available. After this MAJOR sale, the shop will be closed for updates and restocking. Make sure you are following me and opt-in for the newsletters to get word of the NEW products and rewards.
