It was a gift that I surely needed. After confirming that I was able to accept this gift of travel, I searched YouTube for smart ways to pack and started a list (my inventory) of what was going in my carry-on and checked bag. I was elated at the opportunity to take a flight across state lines just to have a spiritual rendezvous with God. I felt this was not a normal vacation but I chance to re-group and re-energize.
The flight was AWESOME. This was my first airplane trip. In college I had ruptured my eardrum and had become very apprehensive toward skyscrapers and surely airplanes. I always dreamed about traveling abroad. I took many pictures from my window seat while thanking God for this blessing of travel.
I'm a stickler for customer service and I must admit that I enjoyed the Mariott Downtown and also the Mariott Courtyard Suites during my stay. Each person that I spoke with was professional and courteous. One front desk attendant helped me find cool places to eat and where to visit take in the beautiful sights.
Taking a spiritual retreat, does the mind and spirit good. You don't have to travel state lines to do this. You can take a weekend or a day where you can be in solitude. If you're able to be with a group attend activities for personal and spiritual growth. I enjoy being in an spiritual atmosphere and surrounded by nature as I pray, meditate, read my Bible and listen to God gently speak to me.
During my getaway, I was able to refresh my mind and was deeply encouraged by the wisdom of God. Being miles away, I was able to focus and not "dash" from the spiritual goals to be concerned with everyday activities. I learned that even though I'm accustomed to having "spiritual time" each day, it took me a couple of days to wind down from the excitement. Nevertheless, the mission was accomplished and when it was time to leave, I wanted more days to enjoy, explore and eat from this spiritual buffet. I returned home with a fresh perspective. I was re-aligned to what God had purposed me to do and strengthen to be able to do so.
Take some time from your "routine" and re-energize your mind and spirit. Daily meditation is great yet I can't fully express the rejuvenation I experienced during this getaway.
