I am a lover of aromatherapy. I love essential oils. I the 100+ ways I can relax and balance the environment around me just with a few drops (3-6 drops) and water. Yes, indeed, all I need is a diffuser, water and a few drops of essential oils. How easy is that! Before we continue, I want to point out the differences between diffusers and humidifiers. Humidifiers add moisture to the environment by pushing water into the air. Humidifiers are not designed to diffuse oils. I tend to use my humidifier during the winter months. Diffusers break essential oils down into tiny molecules allowing them to be diffused into the air to provide aromatherapy and respiratory benefits. A diffuser reduces dust in the environment just like a Himalayan Salt Lamp and is used for mood management, purification and respiratory purposes. There are four types of diffusers, ultrasonic, heat, evaporative and nebulizing. My two favorite diffusers are ultrasonic and nebulizing. What is a nebulizing diffuser? My favorite is the nebulizing diffuser: These are so cool to me. They do not require any water. Yes, that's right when you invest in a nebulizing diffuser you only use essential oil. Essential oils are dispersed directly to the environment's air through what is called "cold air" nebulizing to provide the highest therapeutic benefit. These are most ideal when additional moisture is not needed within your environment. I prefer to use the nebulizing diffuser at home since its not quiet like ultrasonic diffusers and provides a longer lasting aroma within a shorter amount of time. What I recommend: AromaAce Essential Oil Diffuser from DOTERRA. The Aroma-Ace is compact and allows you to change your choice of essential oils at any time with no worry about spilling. The user is given more control allowing you to choose the intensity of the aromatherapy. What is a ultrasonic diffuser? The ultrasonic diffuser uses a combination of water and essential oil. Ultrasonic diffusers add water to the environment like a humidifier and is easy to clean. This type of diffuser is available in various styles and often come with a timer that allows you to enjoy aromatherapy for 2, 4,6 and 8 hours at a time. I have seen a few styles that come with a night light. What I recommend: I've had great results with the Petal Diffuser from DOTERRA (shown below). It has a timer option for 1, 2 and 4 hour enjoyment and ambient light making it ideal for nighttime diffusion. It's very quiet and works well to 300 square feet.
