Humble Hydration

Drinking enough water everyday is often a hardship for many people. In speaking on treating our bodies like temples, I encourage practicing healthy habits. In this post, I will share my perspectives on the benefits of drinking the proper amount of water. 

The Benefits of Hydration

Water helps to regulate our bodies temperature. When you're dehydrated, the body has the trigger to tell your brain you're thirsty to in return make you get a drink to replenish the fluids. Drinking enough water daily, helps relieve headaches while flushing toxins and waste. Drinking enough water helps us avoid constipation. Often constipation is simply a symptom of dehydration. Water helps to carry vital nutrients to our cells and keeps the cells regulated to plump  oxygen and fluid to the correct organ systems. Water helps our tissues to stay nice and moist which helps us with our skin to look good on the outside. 

Water Infusions

Many complaints about not drinking water, it the flavor or lack thereof. To encourage water drinking, I make infused water at nigh before I go to bed. The infused water gives the variety many people crave while still giving the correct amount of nutrients. I fill up my bottle in the morning and then refill with plain water. If I'm at home, I will alternate my infused water drinking with plain water.  

I rotate the waters depending on my focus. Infused waters helped me increase my water intake and in less than a month I WANTED water, not carbonated beverages! Infused waters help with hydration and detoxification.
Many ways to enjoy
Making your flavored water is convenient and will be ready in three steps.
  1. Slice your ingredients.
  2. Add water.
  3. Refrigerate.
I recommend refrigerating overnight. Discard ingredients after 48 hours. 
  • Cucumbers- helps to flush toxins and provide extra hydration. Great for your bones and encourage healing in the body. Cucumbers are high in water content.  I slice up the cucumber in about 1/2 to 1 inch thickness.
  • Mint-is great for digestion discomforts especially nausea. Cleanse the blood, fights bad breath Simply tastes great! I add the leaves without the stem.
  • Ginger- helps with digestion as well. I will use fresh ground ginger or thinly slice the ginger.
  • Lemon -is great to balance the organs, clear skin, detox the liver, and boost immunity. Get more benefits when drinking in the morning to rejuvenate the body for the day ahead. I slice my organic lemons in 1/2 inch to 1 inch thickness.
  • Aloe Vera -is awesome to relieve stress with many other benefits as well. I also drink aloe vera juice straight.
  • Cucumber-Lemon-blend for bloating and water retention.
  • Cucumber-Lemon-Mint- Ginger-blend helps with inflammation. Boost metabolism while balancing pH levels and promoting digestion.

During the seasons, it is easy to create new flavors with fruits like apple and cinnamon, oranges, lime, berries and more. When I first started, I would make 48 ounces of infused water and increased as I got into the groove. With freshly ground ginger I would add a tablespoon the first night. When I finish the first day's water, that night I will add more water and ginger. 

I make a NEW ingredient batch after 48 hours. 
My healthy habit:
In the morning after I awake, I drink about 8 ounces of warm water with lemon. This helps to get the body ready internally for the day. Afterward, I do an oil-pulling with coconut oil for 15 minutes. Brush teeth and I'm on track for the morning ahead! Before breakfast or smoothie, I drink at least 16 ounces of water. I also drink alkaline water on a regular basis, Structured Healing Water made by Doctor Dr. Ceaser and consume high water content food (melon, cucumber, apples, grapefruit, greens and tomatoes).
 I encourage you to challenge yourself to drink more water. Set a alarm on your phone until you get into a natural process. Start creating your own regime of your health!
